As Lisconn expanded its presence in China, it required a dedicated website hosted within mainland China to improve accessibility and performance for local customers. Rather than relying on a global hosting platform, we worked with the client to deploy a dedicated Chinese version of the website using Alibaba Cloud.

The project involved learning and working with an entirely new cloud platform, building a secure Linux hosting environment, configuring the web server, and deploying a cloned version of the existing website ready for localisation and future development.

What We Delivered

Dedicated Chinese Website

We created a standalone deployment of the Lisconn website for the Chinese market. This provides a separate platform that can evolve independently while maintaining the same branding and user experience as the global website.

Alibaba Cloud Infrastructure

The website was deployed on a new Alibaba Cloud ECS server hosted in mainland China. We were responsible for configuring the hosting environment from the ground up, including:

• Server provisioning
• Operating system configuration
• Web server installation
• PHP configuration
• Database configuration
• SSL certificate installation
• DNS configuration
• Security hardening

Learning a New Cloud Platform

Although we’re experienced with platforms such as AWS, this project required us to work with Alibaba Cloud for the first time. We quickly became familiar with its services, management interface and deployment processes to deliver a production-ready environment.

Secure Deployment

The cloned website was deployed onto the new infrastructure, with all supporting services configured and tested to ensure it was operating correctly in its new environment.

The Challenge

Hosting a website for users in China is very different from deploying a traditional UK or European website. Infrastructure, server management and cloud services all operate differently, requiring careful planning and a willingness to adapt to a new ecosystem.

By working closely with the client and investing time in understanding Alibaba Cloud, we delivered a reliable hosting environment that provides a solid foundation for Lisconn’s continued growth in China.
